Hi

I have just moved in to a new house and cannot get hot water or heating to work. I moved in yesterday, and somehow managed to get hot water yesterday evening. There is an Ideal boiler downstairs, that has a Drayton control panel. Upstairs is water tank in an airing cupboard. I have put some pictures here: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=61AF2426474C8260!119&authkey=!AFYE_NIIH1eqyhU

Yesterday evening, the tank upstairs started draining water, and it continued doing this for a long time, maybe half an hour. Nothing prompted this, it just started draining, and nothing we could do stopped it, it just stopped on its own. I also noticed there was a blue flame inside the boiler yesterday, and this came on when when I changed some of the settings on the Drayton control panel (which only seems to control the time of day the heating or hot water comes on).

Today the boiler is not making any response when I turn on hot water or heater, it doesn't make any noise, or have a blue flame inside.

If anyone could give me any advice I would be really grateful

Right...

Your heating is turned off on the clock... Press the SELECT button that has orange writing next to it until you have it where you want it.

The water discharging is probably due to the air bubble being depleted in the cylinder.

There is an instruction sticker on the side that tells you how to replenish it.

You also seem to have your immersion heater turned on.

It is a bit of a rough installation to be honest. You might find it beneficial to get a decent heating man/woman in to run you through the controls and give the boiler a once over (you haven';t mentioned the make and model BTW).

I've tried the heating on all the different settings, but it does nothing, the same as the hot water. No matter what I select I get no response from the boiler.

The boiler is an Ideal classic FF350. I tried turning the immersion on to get some hot water, but it hasn't done anything.
