I have an old rocking chair that I built more than 5 years ago. I have since left this outside for those hot summer nights but never protected it from the weather elements. 
I have since fixed it and it starting to look lots better and like it use to when I put it together. The problem I am having is the rocker has split the joint. I wanted to fit a dowel to strenghen but do not think this is the best solution. Can somebody help me ?
