I have just started replacing our old optima alarm panel with a accenta, before I purchased the accenta I searched all over the internet for a alarm panel that had more than 8 zones, but could not find one, after a bit of browsing this forum this morning, I came across the Texecom Premier 24 which says you can be expanded to 24 zones.

so now I am thinking I might be better cutting my losses with the accenta & going for something like the Texecom Premier 24.

The other thing I have noticed about the new accenta is that the tamper for the 8 zones is all on one circuit, so if there is a fault I can imagine it being like looking for a needle in a haystack, the old optima had a separate tamper for each zone, I dont know how the tamper works on the premier 24. also at the moment with only 8 zones I am having to put all three bedrooms & the landing all on one zone.

Any help/advise & recommendations would be much appreciated, would this sort of alarm system be any more complicated for me to install than the optima/accenta

THANKS in anticipation

Or you could just get a 20 zone Yale 6400 which would also call out via an autodialler to your mobile if anyone intruded.

I know its not a 'professional' alarm but they give excellent service with very good reliability.

Wirefree , no wiring to mess up and installed in an afternoon.

Or, if wireless is your thing, better systems from:
GSD
Scantronic
Visonic

etc etc

Just can't help yourself can you Mark.

I'm definitely not going the wireless route.
I am seriously considering the Texecom Premier 24 or 48, has anyone got any advice/ recommendations on these panels?

Do you get installation manuals with these alarms? I tried getting the manaul from the texe.com site but it says I have to be a registered installer.

I presume it is ok to DIY fit them? (not taking part in any insurance approved schemes of course due to DIY)

Also, what is the difference between the master code and engineer code?

I received a Premier 48 panel today, there was no instruction manual, just the user manual, I rang texecom & they emailed me a PDF of the user manual.

Engineer code is for the engineer :) (for the majority of programming after install)

The master code is the master user code for using the system and changing some system peramiters. You then have other user codes which can be set up with different privaliges, these defined by the master user.

User Types
The User type determines which functions are available to
the user i.e. arming, disarming, resetting etc. In addition, the
User type also determines which options the user can
access i.e. Setup Users, System Tests etc. The following
User types are available:
0: Engineer
Engineers can arm, disarm, omit zones, silence alarms
and reset their assigned areas. In addition, Engineers can
access the Programming Menu and all User menu options.
Engineers can also change their own User codes and
assign new users to the system.
! The default Engineer User type (User 00) can assign
any User types to the system.
Engineers can only disarm areas that were armed
using an Engineer code. They cannot disarm any
areas that were armed with another User code.
1: Master
Master users can arm, disarm, omit zones, silence alarms
and reset their assigned areas. In addition, Master users
can access all User menu options. Master users can also
change their own User codes and assign new users to the
system. The Master user will also activate any output
programmed as ‘Door Strike’.
2: Manager
Manager users can arm, disarm, omit zones, silence
alarms and reset their assigned areas. In addition,
Manager users can access all User menu options except
Setup Users. Manager users can also change their own
User codes.
3: Standard
Standard users can arm, disarm, omit zones, silence alarms
and reset their assigned areas. In addition, Standard users
can access all User menu options except for Setup Users,
System Tests, and Change Timers. Standard users can also
change their own User codes.
4: Local
Local users behave the same way as Standard users.
However, Local users will only be able to arm and disarm
areas assigned to their codes from keypads assigned to the
same areas.
5: Duress
Duress users behave the same way as Standard users.
However, Duress users will activate any outputs programmed
as ‘Duress’ whenever their codes are entered.
6: Arm Only
Arm Only users can only arm or reset their assigned areas
and view the event log.
7: Door Strike
Door strike users have no access to User functions or User
menu options. However, Door strike users will activate any
outputs programmed as ‘Door strike’ whenever their codes
are entered (see page 64 for details).
8: Vacation
Vacation users behave the same way as Standard users.
However, Vacation users will automatically be deleted the
first time that the Master User code (User 01) is used to
disarm the system.

who did you buy it from?

I just got an e-mail newsletter yesterday from Texecom saying that they are no longer providing manuals with their alarms given that most installers are professionals and usually already have a copy. The manuals will now be provided on the site for free.

They're also not shipping brackets with their PIR's anymore since apparently 98% of them don't get used.

I thought the premier alarms were regarded quite highly in the trade?

But there are different sorts of Trade,
very small & one man bands who love the Prem.
&
then there's the real Trade who would not touch with a barge pole
