Hi guys , ok im no expert just an experienced diyer trying to keep wiffey and kids happy.

Our loft has been boarded and the space is ok however I’d really like to put a dorma in the rear to create playroom/ posh storage.

The house is semi and built around 1900s .

Roof structure is cut roof!!
Ie two long bars with four struts.

I would love to put in a dorma but would need to move 2/3rds of the purlin I believe.

If I was building internal walls could this be done?

Any advise would be really gratefully received.
Many thanks

Simplest way is put in a couple of steels for the new floor below the purlin lines and build load bearing stud walls to support the cut purlins off these steels..

But you should be doing this to building regs and check on planning for the conversion/dorma..

thank you head height is an issue i would have to come under the exsisting floor and build under the exsisting celing if that makes sense.

planning/regs will be done but just trying to get an idea to work involved could i do it once structure etc sorted ...would it be worth it , have i the budget!

cheers
