We have had several roofers and builders over to quote and give an inspection but all of them have said different things and I'm hoping this forum will help us. We've already spent money on fixing the roof (one was on a cowboy who fixed us up with artificial lead and gave us a 10 year warranty!). We have no more money left really to fix the roof but if it's serious we obviously need to find some!
Some people have said it's bowing (which I can see) but it's nothing to worry about/spend money on. Others have said it's dangerous and needs fixed urgently.
Please could you comment and let me know whether it's urgent or dangerous the state of the roof? To be clear it's only on the back side of the house.
Thank you so much - desperate and clueless homeowner.

How recent are the dry hip and ridge?
Someone has been up there relatively recently to fit those, so can't have been that concerned with the state of the roof.
Have you been up in the loft space to investigate the rafters, purlin and the bowing?

The only way to find out is yo go into the loft and see what is happening

On the left you seem to have a bulge, then to the right of that, a dip.

Maybe there’s a problem with the purlin or a few rafters. Maybe it’s just tile battens

If it’s the timber structure maybe some new additional timbers is the solution.

Perhaps you could post some key points in one of the quotes which might guide and allow for meaningful advice

Looks to me like a typical tired old roof with the usual undersized rafters - i.e. you can see where the dividing wall between properties is keeping the roof in plane, then sags as it moves away from that support - then all of a sudden there's an elephant wedged in the roof space...
