Are you experienced in using a router or a complete novice?
Hand held or table mounted?
Top end with bells and whistles or cheap basic?
Complete with a variety of cutters or just most commonly used?
May be an idea to post a similar question in the woodworking section. Those guys are more likely to have an experienced user amongst them.
Basically to joint worktops efficiently you'll need a 1/2in plunge router of at least 1400 watts (1850 plus preferable) with a 30mm guide bush, 1/2in diameter x 50mm long cutters, a worktop jig and a pair of F-clamps. Sink cut-outs require a plunge saw and rail plus a hand or jigsaw or just a jigsaw. Laminate trimming requires a one-hand laminate trimmer, but TBH for a one off kitchen you can get by without one. Kitchen doors often come pre-drilled. Unless you are doing multiple kitchens I'd recommend hiring the router and jig, buying a decent jigsaw and doing the rest with hand tools
