Help please

Hi all, just stripped the wallpaper in our girls room so we can redecorate there must of been several layers as it came off like wood, but unfortunately the plaster started coming off too, the gap is where there was some exterior trunking and light switch, can you guys tell me what I can do to sort this out and also fit a flush upto date light switch

Cut sections of the appropriate thickness and size plasterboard, screw them to the lathe or studs with drywall screws, then fill the gaps with joint compound. There is a video that demonstrates the process here:

Thanks bud, what about the light switch and cable, can I cost run the wire behind the wooden slats?

The video didn't use any mesh tape!

Ideally is to plaster bond it then skim it over with multi-finish before the pva dried out

Don't know what you're capable of doing or get a sparky to socket flush to the wall for a neater appearance
