I am a record collector and the only space I have to store most of my collection is my loft.

The problem is ever since I put floor panels down up there it gets very cold and damp in the winter (and drafty too) and in the summer the sun hits one side of the roof head on and it gets like an oven up there. this does not do my record collection much good to say the least!

I need some sort of insulation thats going to keep the cold and damp out in winter and the heat out in the summer.

I have lots of damp-proof ground sheet at my disposal (the type they use under houses) and I have considered stapling it to the underside of the roof to see what happens but its only thin and probably wont do much good apart from stop the draft.

I also thought that if I put plaster board up on the inside of the roof the heat would build up in the summer and melt my roof felt!

suggestions?

Just a thought,

Might be easier & cheaper to put all the records in a insulated boxes with open/shut air-vent on the side of the chest or box for the summer period???

there is an insulation material you might use, instead of a thick foam or mat, it's like bubble-wrap with a reflective aluminised surface. Haven't used it myself but the ads claim it works. you should be able to staple it to the roof timbers. It'll be at your merchants or Screwfix. Make sure the space between the felt and the new stuff is well-ventilated.
