Does water continue to run into the pan after flushing ,and before the cistern water reaches overflow level ?
If you manually raise the float of the fill valve ,does water cease to flow into the cistern ?
Is there an isolation valve on the water supply pipe that goes to the cistern ?
Be careful removing the flush valve, some bayonet cradles start to undo too. If flush valve and inlet float valve not damaged, why not buy washers? Inlet washerFlush valve (Optima)- other suppliers are available
