Hi all - I am replacing rocker switches with a master/slave Evolve dimmer from BG. I can't get the wiring sorted out for the two way switching. What have I done wrong ?

I have this at the moment

When i rewire it to this then the dimmer works to control the bottom hall, but the hall at top of stairs dimmer doesn't (it also doesn't blow the fuse so that is good !)

SL is my abbreviation for switched live, the icon is the tilda with the arrow through it. I thought that as that was the common feed on the old switch it should go there for the new switch. It works for the new left hand side to control the bottom hall, just doesn't work for the 2-way switch.

Did you not get instructions with your switches?

According to this from Varilight:

If yours is the same then you need to do this:

This 1695284118608.pngis how mine show the wiring, if wired the normal way to start with slave replaces com two-way-real.jpg but seems yours was wired school boy way two-way-school-boy-cables.jpgthis requires a connector in the switch so other one is preferred, to be frank the load with mine needs to be at least 5 watt, and it does not like working with small bulbs, so in the main better to use dimming bulbs.

It's not the same.
That is just one of the usual methods of two-way wiring for normal switches using three wires between the switches while you only have two - with the supply at one end and light at the other.

With this method Varilight say the L to L wire is not needed.
Whether yours are the same I do not know but you could try wiring it as in my last and Varilight's diagram.

Thanks both, I will try the Varilight method - it is a 1940s house in UK and so getting wiring right is sometimes hard (and I am a real noob to all this as well).

Well - good news. Your wiring diagram worked EFL, thanks very much for your help. I would not have thought to remove the live from the top switch. But it does make sense now I see it. cheers,
