I need help with my boiler, sorry if my description is a bit vague as I'm in the field of computers and know nothing of boilers.

Basically the pilot will not come on when the heating or hot water is switched on. Sometimes I get a noise that sounds like an electric shock with a little banging. There is a manual ignition button which doesn't fix the issue either. After switching the heating/hot water off/on and pressing the ignition button for about 15/20 minutes the pilot smetimes comes on.

I've had 3 different engineers, 1 from British Gas and 2 from independant companies who have come up with 3 different conclusions. Can someone give me some real advice on what might be the problem/solution... In return, any computer queries you have, just field them my way and I will answer as best as I can.

bit difficult with no model but if it has a permanent pilot which keeps extinguishing it is probably just the thermocouple which needs replacing although 3 engineers should have sorted that!!. What did the engineers tell you the problem was?
