Help with Honeywell DT90E - error code

Hope someone can help.

We've got a Honeywell DT90E digital room thermostat installed (about 2weeks now) and tonight it has suddenly flashed up FAIL on the display.

Does anyone know what this means? Is it broken?

Any help much appreciated.

Think it means fail safe mode.

If temperature measurement system fails,

I take it that, that means it is now broken.

This thermostat comes with the best instructions/user guide - which doesn't even cover any of this!
