Hope you can help. Was tired the other night unloading tall larder unit from a van and let the door swing open and it broke off. It is second hand but cost a lot and is one of three matching.

Wife not thrilled at the moment. It has obviously dragged the screws holding the hinges on out of the hole and made them bigger. It is the usual melamine faced chipboard type thing.

What can I do to get a good repair. The door is quote heavy and has three hinges so it needs a good fix. I may be saved by the fact that on the other side of the carcass will be a thick MDF end panel. Will this give me something to fix onto?

Cheers

OK, a few options,

Get one of these

Or when you fit the end panel use longer screws to bite into it, but not too long ;)

Or fill the damaged areas with a two part styrene filler, woodfill or p38 (the car body filler) and then redrill the holes

Or glue the hinge in place using a two part epoxy resin such as araldite.

good luck

Cheers for the help guys - I had no idea these hinge/carcass repair kits existed. Guess I am not alone in being clumsy etc if there is a rwady made solution. I am confident it can be sorted out now. Thanks again
