help with potterton puma 80 combi please

hi, ideas on the following would be greatly appreciated:
When on CH the boiler will overheat and shutdown. To turn it back on I have to run the hot water tap for a couple of minutes and then i can switch it on. Also, after running a shower or bath the boiler will shut down. The best the engineers can offer is to say flush the system (which i've done) or to buy a new boiler. This seems a bit drastic as its only a few years old. regards.

HOW have you flushed the system?
Do the rads ever get hot when the heating should be off?
Has anyone checked the temperature reached or the thermostat?
