Hi, i have justed moved into a new property and the timer for the central heating is not working. The timer is a Switchmaster SM300.
The setup is mains power into the timer L, N and Earth, then one cable to the boiler and one cable to a thermostat in another room.
The timer has power, but the switch does not work and the timer does not rotate. There does not seem to be any power in the thermostat either, but not sure how this works.

On the front plate of the switchmaster there are pins which slot into the mounting plate, but pin number 1 is missing. Has this pin broken or was it not there to start with?

Thanks for any help.

Have you checked with a meter that power is getting to the timer? If so, then the timer must be faulty and will need replacing.

The thermostat is sometimes supplied by power from the timer - depends on which boiler you have. So, if the timer is not in an ON position, no power will get to the thermostat.

There should be four pins: ON, OFF, ON, OFF. This allows you to set two periods in every 24 hours when the system is on.

From what you say, the timer is knackered and needs replacing. Post more info about your system and we can tell you which timer to buy.

Make and model of boiler is a good start. ;)
