Hi
I have a malfunctioning pir flood light so I disconnected the sensor and want to wire it direct to a waterproof light switch, so I could just switch on when I want to.
I bought a Crabtree ip56, which has L1 L2 & L3 but not sure which wire goes where !! The cable is 2 core with earth which will wire direct into the consumer unit in the garage.
Would appreciate a little help thanks

Tell us how your wiring runs and will be able to advise you better , ie from garage board to switch then to light in Twin and Earth etc

Only the live wires will be connected to the switch terminals. The neutrals get joined together in the switch box or at the light, depending on your chosen wiring method.

The live wire that goes to the light fitting goes to L2.

The remaining live wire(s) go to L1.

Leave L3 empty.

Thanks for all the reply's guys
I followed the wiring instructions but kept tripping the fuse
Then I wired it with just the live in the com L3 position and the light live in L1
The light came on but the switch didn't work
I'm wondering if the switch is faulty as it doesn't seem to switch from on position to off position?
Ive ran a new wire from the light down to the switch from the switch to the consumer unit to a spare fuse.

Ok tried the wiring again tonight and the switch must be faulty as it doesn't work
I've drilled a couple of access holes in the back of the switch do you think their take it back without a fuss???

You need to describe exactly how you have wired the light and switch up, you may be doing something very wrong. Pictures would be useful too.

Hi
When I removed the sensor from the light it left me with 3 wires 2 of which were white and an earth so I connected brown liven to one and blue neutral to the other and earth to earth, from the light straight to switch and wired brown live in L2 and brown live from consumer unit to L1 and connected both the neutral and the earth from the consumer unit together

Right I changed the switch and it works as it should so we now have light on tap or switch :p
Thanks for all your help advise
