I have been quoted for the following Hik Vision CCTV system for installation in London.

6x Hik Vision cameras dome day/night infrared, hikvision waterproof dome of which 1x audio included camera
2x colour cameras

1x PSU 8 way
Installation and commissioning

TOTAL: £2,395

Option 2
16 way system but with 10 cameras including 4 external colour cameras (I guess this means that white LED light), 2x audio, 4x 4k internal domes
1x 16 way DVR 8TB
1x16 way psu unit 20 ams

TOTAL: £3,495

Are these prices reasonable and what is the difference between IP camera from Hik Vision and one that uses a coax cable that is non-IP. I think the latter will use HikVision COlorVU 4k 8MP 5MP Audio CCTV with built in mic AOC 3K Turret 40M IR (Whatever that means).

Thx for your input.

If you know the part numbers of the items you can get an idea of the price of each by registering for an account on here:

The IP cameras are far superior thst older coax ones. You will get a higher resolution and functionalty from an IP camera than coax.

so these are analogue cameras, specific models required to get an idea of price for the equipment and costs.

I don't fit analogue, and haven't for some time.

Without knowing specific models its hard to say what the real differences are in terms of performance.

There are many options out there and the combination of DVR and Camera can also determine what is possible and what isn't.

AOC tells its analogue as its Audio Over Coax

Price is where you feel the difference between IP an analogue.

The specification of an 8MP isn't straight forward. in that many models are available in both IP and analogue and technology is always moving on.

At one time an analogue 8MP camera could was relatively rare and limited often with significantly drop in recorded frame rates compared to an Ip variant.

But IP cameras frame rate has increased too, so lower resolution usually has a higher frame rate (smoother) and the frame rate drops as resolution increases. I installed an 8MP camera a few years ago max frame rate was 20fps and now its 25fps in PAL and 30 i believe in NSTC.
