Is there a common rule of thumb regarding the length of nail required when using a Hilti gun to affix timber to concrete?
Needing to fix 45mm thick C16 to concrete blocks.

Thank you

I'd vote for a minimum 35mm fixing into the block. But it depends on the loading. A 50mm fixing should be definitely OK though

how good a fixing do you get with a hilti nail? we often fix battens etc to masonry with plugging and screwing. Just wondered if it would be quicker and easier/better or as good with a hilti?

Bit late for you this.. but the answer is.. crazy strong. Long as its not crumbly concrete.. we used to use it loads for nailing down ply kickers and such.. (22mm ply) and unless you got a nail bar right under/near the nail the ply would always break first before the nail giving.. tough enough getting the nails out then anyway with a 2ft nail bar. On too high a setting it'll put the nail clean through the ply.
