Hi I'm trying to sort storage in a small space. I've built a floor to ceiling bookshelf perfectly filling an alcove and would like to mount a large mirror over some of it but am unsure what fixings to use. The mirror is roughly 40cm wide and 120cm long so neither as wide or tall as the bookshelf. It has jewellery storage inside so is roughly 8cm deep (and heavier than just a mirror). In my perfect world I'd have it placed in the middle of the book case on a swing arm so that it could be opened out of the way a little like a door. Any suggestions for what fixings I should use? Thanks

Best give us a picture of the mirror and its case for the storage if you can, Kate......drilling glass is nigh on impossible in the DIY world!
Maybe a door containing the mirror which could hinge wardrobe style is a possibility.
John :)

Thanks john. I'm away from home at the minute. But the mirror is a homemade version of this, so it could be hung from the wood back. I want to take it off the stand (which takes up too much room) and attach somehow to the bookcase!

Is the bookcase fixed to the wall?

When you open the "door" it may cause the bookcase to fall over.
Filing cabinets have a failsafe so that only one drawer can open at a time.

Weigh the mirror/door to get an idea.

Maybe even something like a TV bracket would allow tilt and pan along with pulling it ou of the way to access the books. Depends on what you want
