Hinges and fixings - suppliers? (for a play kitchen)

I'm building a play kitchen for my sons birthday.....

I am on a tight budget!
I have just spent the best part of £50 on a sheet of pine laminate from Wickes and the fixings I need come to approx £27 in B&Q!!

Can anyone recommend anywhere cheaper for fixings (screws, corner braces, hinges) apart from Screwfix.
I will be visiting my local town centre hardware shop in the morning in any case.

Also, I'll be using friction lid support or 3 way stay, what other names are these known by as I'm having trouble finding them? Or is there an alternative?

I would have gone with mdf , cheaper and easy to assemble, you are going to need expensive tools to cut and finish laminated pine, though never seen it in Wickes.Not sure what you are looking for, something like this.?

MDF would have been cheaper but not really the look I was after! I guess you get what you pay for in that case!

Just thought I'd emphasise my need for cheaper fixings! Plus as beautiful as those are, I don't think my toddler will appreciate polished brass stays!

My suggestion was to identify what style of stay you are after , they are available in a variety of finished from less than £2 each. Local hardware stores / ebay / boot fairs provide cheaper options than the sheds.

It has been helpful, our local big orange shed want £7+ for one and didn't even include fixings!
I've got 2 local hardwares to try in the morning and failing that I'll be taking a trip to the local recycling centre to scrounge off old furniture!
