Hi, I am looking for some help wiring my Hive 2 chanel receiver.

I am in a temp rental property with an old dial thermostat. The wiring diagram on the back of the programmer is exactly the same as the Hive.

I have a Hive thermostat. I have bought a 2 channel receiver.

I have just attempted to wire ot up, but noticed that the old programmer is not wired per the diagram. See photos attached.

There is no wires in 1&2. 3&4 are wired in to a Honeywell juction box. A second red and black connected to the permanent also go in to the junction box.

The boiler is oil not gas.

My question is can I connect the Hive the same way as the existing. As the wiring diagrams are the same, I am assuming the NC hot water and heating off are connected in the junction box.

Yes, connect them in the same way - note that the earth terminal is in a different location on the Hive backplate.
The N/C connections are not used for your system.
The black wire in terminal 3 should have a red marking on it, to denote it as a switched live and not a neutral; don't mix this up with the other black wires.

As you are in rented accomodation, I wouldn't attempt to remove the existing dial thermostat - turn it up to maximum, to allow the Hive to take control.
...and I hope you have permission for these changes!
