Hob connection

Appreaciate this has been asked before but is there anywhere that sells a proper connection for a Flanged 1/2" male hob connection.

Tried a female 1\2" iron but the fitting is designed for a face to face joint with a fibre washer inbetween. 1/2" iron is to deep and the male never gets to the end. As you all know the female is tapered at the bottom so its not face to face even if the male met the end.

Best ive heard so far is to use a tap washer with the inserted collar cut off and filed smooth. Pretty poor given the strict legislagtion for Gas.

I/2 INCH female TO 15MM does it use gas ptfe and not paste and it seals perfectly ok

It begs the question, why are you not letting your registered installer fit the hob using the correct fittings? You should get no further advice on here.

Yawn. Yes im getting the GAS SAFE lad round and hes not my 'registered installer' he's a plumber.

He's told me to make sure I have all the gear and having been to 4 different plumbers merchants including Plumb Centre everyone says the same thing - use a 1\2" iron.

Well Mr Smart arse its seems you have to cobble one together as (in your lethal industry where everything is bang on) they do not manufacture a purpose built one. So its a make do which if you read my post i find astonishing given the highly technical, extremely dangerous, knife edge drama that 'sweating a pipe' is made out to be.

I have to say that the plumbing section of this site is by far the worst and unhelpful with every other contributor a real dickhead (apologies to those who do help). If you dont want to help keep your smart arsed remarks to yourself clown.

Whoa there !

All you need is a half inch female to 15mm compression fitting,
a 15mm street elbow, gas cock and pipe.

Get that for your plumber...... sorted.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES THINK OF A TAP CONNECTOR !!!!!!!

Fitted thousands literally never had a prob this way !

And anyway, what sort of RGI / Plumber tells his client to identify and obtain basic fittings? He is obvioulsy too busy chosing a new mount.

oh and by the way rgi means registered gas installer, which should include your gas safe plumber

Quality......If you'd have given the complete scenario in your original post then it would have saved confusion as to who was doing the job, and why be so effin rude?
