Hi all,

We would like to get a new hob (induction perhaps). The one we like says it uses 7000w.

Next to the pictured box is a fuse box where the oven is connected to (which works great). However, I noticed that if I don't put the 3 golden screws into the pictured box then there is no power to the oven. So they must be linked somehow.

Short of calling an electrician, is there a way to tell if the box in the picture has enough power to get the hob we want?

No there is no way to tell from your pic., in fact it looks like you may have a problem with the polarity being reversed. Call an electrician in.

Hello, Thanks for your response.

Thing is, we have had two electricians in. The first one did the hob installation like shown above. The second did some further checks and wanted to change the cable from the hob to another cable (something about 6mm). I have got pictures of the fuse box as well if this helps? It has these numbers on them,
Doepke DLS5 B40, B10, B10, B32, B32 and then one that says Doebke RCCB DFS 2. Haven't had a chance to figure out which one is for the the hob/oven.

We have had an old ceramic hob but only two plates were ever working. Decided to buy a new oven and hob and these are also playing up (however, the electricians said that it was a manufacturer defect).

I have got a funny suspicion that it has something to do with how much power we can draw?
