A few days ago, my 7 series started to smell of petrol, but there wasn't any evidence of a leak on the ground. Since then it's got worse, and is now dripping out.
On inspection, it seem that there is a pin hole on the bottom of the tank, near the front. I don't know why it started, the car is 9 years old. There is no corrosion, and no evidence of hitting anything.
Anyway, at god knows how much a litre, I need to stop it quickly. Can anyone recommend something to temporarily seal the leak, like some kind of special putty for such situations?
Also, can anyone recommend a more permanent repair, or source of used Beemer spares, as a new one from BMW will probably be 2 arms and 2 legs!!!

Use quick steel! It comes in a tube of putty with 2 compounds you mix together and it sets Rock Hard in about 5mins and has very good adehision

Any good Local Auto Factor will have it in stock.

alternitivly, do you have AA/RAC Breakdown cover? I am an AA Patrol and we carry QS all the time. Call one of us out and bung as a fiver!
