Hello,

I am new to this forum. I need some advice regarding the correct plastering method to my false chimney breast housing a Faber gas fire (glass see though fire). The fireplace unit has already been installed by a fireplace specialist (gas safe registered) but the false chimney breast is down to me. I have delayed the installation of this due to delivery delays on my kitchen which needs to be installed first.

I have read and received advice from various sources about the materials I should use to box in the fireplace. One option I was told is to use metal 'C' studs with fireline plasterboard. This should then be plastered with a lime based render or heat resistant plaster eg: Vitcas. I have since read that fireline board will not be suitable for this application and I should use something more fire resistant eg: Superlux.

All the conflicting advice has confused me. Please could someone advise me of best way to get this sorted. The full fire place spec is a Faber Glance.

Thanks.
