Hi,

I've just redecorated a room in our house and put the curtains up. Unfortunately, our hand me down heavy curtains have pulled one of the curtain rail brakets off the wall with some wall still attached. If I fill the hole (prob tennis ball size) with filler then put the bracket back on to the same area (with no original wall there, prely filler) will it hold? Is there a better method?

Thanks in advance, nick

Probably not; when you say tennis ball size, is it just the plaster that’s come away or is the hole tennis ball deep as well? It’s unusual for part of the wall to come away! Were the fixings used deep enough to extend into the brick/block work underneath the plaster? If the wall has also failed, you may have to reposition the brackets into a sound piece of wall although I would want to establish why it’s failed in the first place.
