Probably a daft question but please can the Pro's give me some advise.
I'm replacing some missing slate tiles with reclaimed slates. I plan to drill holes in battens to accommodate hooks to prevent 'bounce' caused by hammering, loosening surrounding tiles. My question is, should hooks be secured in tight fitting hole in batten with no movement or should hole for hook be larger than diameter of hook thickness (2.7mm) so the hook 'hangs' rather than being fitted rigid, like slate tiles 'hang' on clout nails?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
