Honeywell evotouch controller + radiator controllers (hr92)

Hi,

We've moved to a new house, and I'm trying to understand the setup and how this all works
The house has a Honeywell evotouch controller with zones preconfigured, and it seems to control the radiator controllers and the boiler.

But the evotouch controller didn't have the wireless relay box (BDR91) setup in system devices. I've done the binding and now it shows under system devices.

What I don't understand is how it was able to control the boiler without the relay being setup?
