Honeywell G2 vs Flex differences

Hi,
I've currently got installed a G2 panel with ethernet self-mon module (all self installed) which has been fault free for 6 years.
I'll be installing an alarm system at another property, and wondered if I should still go for the G2 panels, or whether to opt for the flex panel.
Is the wiring for the zones and bell boxes the same on both panels?
I know the flex has the advantage of GPRS, however is the GPRS just for signalling outbound,and still need ethernet for the self-mon keypad app?
Also, I believe with the flex , the official honeywell app can be used with the self-mon module, if i purchase the self mon module, do i not need a panel with the official ethernet module?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Also, the 8IR103 PIR is discontinued, so wondered what the replacement PIR model is or any other recommended reliable PIR models.

The wiring on the Flex is pretty much the same as the G2. There are 12 onboard zones expandable with RIO's and RF portals. The Flex uses the Intellibus, so the current LCE module will not work on it. You are correct that if the A083-00-02 or A083-00-10 is installed, then you can use both SelfMon apps / services and the Honeywell GX app.

The Flex GPRS can be used for the app to connect, but it would require a SIM that supports this.

Any of the IS Honeywell range of sensors can be used.

I would say that if you want a panel that supports automation, then the Flex is the better choice.

Thank you, is the G2 series still a good current panel? Whats the difference between the 2 ethernet modules on the flex?
I assume that the 8ir103 would still work with the flex panels if I ever wanted to swap out my g2 panel

Hi, the Selfmon module was designed to be a low cost option for the G2 and dimension. It also offered a backdoor option to suppress com errors and leave those for the receiving center to manage. Honeywell reduced the cost of the a083 for the flex and also added comm's suppression, so there was no need to develop the lce for the flex V3. If you buy a flex with A083 from me, I will give a trade in of £50 for your old lce module.

The sensors are all compatible across panels. They're basically a switch and resistors can be added for the double balanced zone circuits if the sensors don't have them built in.
