hi everyone,
I need a bit of help.

Current setup:
Vaillant Ecotec pro 28 H Combi A
Honeywell BDR9 thermostat

Required:
Boiler will be same.
I want to change honeywell thermostat to hive. Only problem is I have bought thermostat with dual channel receiver. I know dual channel is for conventional boiler but I have some idea from searching internet that it can be used for combi too. Please help with wiring.

Thanks in advance.

Return it and buy the single channel version.
It will connect to the same thermostat wiring you have now.

If you connect the dual channel Hive to the existing wiring, the boiler PCB will be destroyed.

That boiler can do mains voltage thermostats, but that requires modification of the wiring at the boiler.
Given the questions you are asking, this is not something you should attempt yourself, as mistakes mean a destroyed PCB.
You should not really be opening the case of that boiler anyway.

As above, having opened the casing of the boiler you now need to do the 26.9 checks before you use it again. It's Gas Safe Registered Engineer territory in there.

A Honeywell T6 Lyric would be a better choice than Hive anyway, so that's two reasons to take it back

Thanks for the answers. I thought it to be simple. Will definitely not mess up with PCB.

Will bring single channel and will replace.

Did not open. Took pic long ago when engineer came for service. Btw why one will need checks for only opening the case if isolated.

There were plenty of reasons for going to hive:
1. My smart home is already hive setup
2. Got it at bargain price from ebay
3. Its too late to go back to honeywell

Thanks for advise though.

On second thought;
1. Will T6 work with my current receiver or will have to put the newer one.
2. Do I need static IP to control when away from home as with hive, you dont need static IP. With Hive, I think it controls devices with regards to your username; if I am correct.

Help much appreciated.

lyric comes with it's own receiver and you do not need a static IP
