hoover 1100 stops mid cycle

Hi, have a hoover ultracare 1100 that is stopping mid cycle (before the soapy water has drained) and doesn't re-start no matter how long is left, on any of the programmes. Machine is 3 years old and been used daily. Have no waranty. or extra cover.
Is this worth calling a service engineer or should i just go buy a new one???
