Hoover CA 230 door seal removal and replacement

The door seal on my father's machine needs to be replaced. He's usually pretty good with the DIY stuff, but this time he's stumped. Is this a difficult job, or is it possible to replace it yourself - if so, how does it come off? Any advice would be much appreciated, and would make me sound like a genius! Ta.
