Hoover Electron W/M leaks from rear outflow when filling

Really annoying intermitent problem with this machine in that sometines when it fills it spews water out the back through what appears to be a release outlet (hole) at the back of the machine.

Also noticed that sometimes it goes to sleep for 15/20 mins during a cycle (partcularly before spinning), but tonight as I type this it's done a cycle with no probs whatsoever!

I have done some research, and it doesn't appear to have a filter; I have also taken off and checked all the pipes (to and from pump etc) that I can find and none were blocked.

Any ideas/comments gratefully received!

fair comment but at least it gives some idea
