Washer fills full of wate but then nothing happens the machine sounds as though its starting to wash but its not moving, can anyone help please???

Have checked the belt and it looks fine
Next thing to check is the motor brushes. Take off the motor and unscrew the black plastic brush holders to remove the brush assemblies. When fully worn there is about 1/4" (6mm) carbon protruding from the brass sleeve.

Thanks, will try tonight.
Checked both brushes and approx 1/2 inch of carbon protruding from the brass sleeve. Guy at local spares shop at happy to sell me a new set for £15 but doesnt think they need changing. Any other ideas?
