Hoover Quattro 1400 WE145-001 intermittant drum issue

In the last week the drum has failed to go around when I have taken out the motor and re-connected it then everything works OK. Happened again yesterday, I have checked the carbon brushes these seem fine also no loose connection although there is some soot type layer on the motor plug. Could it be vibration causing connection issue as machine is now about 10 years old.
