Take lid off and have a look. Is it belt driven? If so check wheels ect.
Look at YouTube for drum bearing test

Every time I've had this is has been either a screw or a metal aglet (thing on the end of a lace that stops it unraveling) stuck in either the holes in the back plate or in the gap between drum and case around the door

Stick your head in and rotate the drum by hand, see can you figure it out

Have you had any laces/strings exit the dryer all twisted up and shredded at the end recently?

Thanks for the replies, havent had a chance to open it up yet, but i have at least noticed that the grinding noise only happens when its running clockwise ??

I have had the front plate off, cant see any issues, on closer inspection i think something has indeed fell throught the holes at the back and is wedged between th back drum and back housing panel, cant see anything but noise defo emanatingfrom there, is ther anyway to access that part, tried to get the top off and stupidly used my hand on a sharp edge instead of a hammer to loosen, ive just finished clearing up the blood ffs

Thats the top as it stands

Any movement in rear of drum ?
None whatsover, took the back cover and element off, but cant really feel anything much, not that i can reach in too far, i take it i cant access the back of the outside of the drum entirely, does undoin the 5 screws above the element help or is that a no no!

Not sure what i did, but i went inside the hole where the element sits again and used a long thin piece of threaded rod, got in anywhere i could and i mustve dislodged it, a victory even if it cost me blood, thanks for all the repies folks
