hi All
i have a hoover hp13 which has been leaking for some time. the pump stopped working so i changed it yesterday and decided to fix the leak as well.

i opened the top yesterday (see pictures) and noticed where the leak was clearly coming from. there is a pipe/tube with no connector on and therefore water and detergent comes out of it when in use.

see pics. my question is this- is there a reason for this pipe/tube being left with no rubber connectors or a seal on? or has the seal just come off?

i have sealed it for now but just want to know if there is a reason for this pipe being left open.

please see pictures. thank you as usual.

It is probably an air vent, so blocking it could cause other problems. It could be that there is a partial blockage in the hose from the soap dispenser to the tub. Another possibility is that your water pressure is very high and you need a restricting device on the electric solenoid valve. Sometimes these restrictors get removed when a machine is used in a home with poor water pressure, then the machine gets moved to a different location and the device does not get refitted.

thanks Fidom.

i thought about pressure release at first. but then discarded the idea as the soap dispenser is not air tight anyway, so don't really see why its needs a pressure release-the opening leads straight to the soap dispenser.

the thing though is i have had this machine for 7 years and the leak started about a year ago. makes me think, there must have been a seal which has come off that opening.

thank you
