Hi, I have a hoover washer dryer (HW120M) which does not seem to take in enough water on most wash cycles.

The only wash that seems to get enough water is the wool cycle, on all others unless i use the extra rinse facility clothes are left with soap marks on them from undesolved powder.

Any ideas on how to resolve ? I have spent a fortune on this machine, its had several pumps, a motor, two sets of bushes, countless hoses and so on. If it is something relatively cheap and simple ill fix it. If not then i will reach for a big hammer and put it out of it's misery !

Any help would be very much appreciated

Cheers

A lot of these types of machines only use a little water, (supposed to be eco friendly). If its leaving soap residue on clothes, then one thing may be you are using to much powder for the water that’s being used to rinse. However if you have noticed a significant drop in water intake, then it may be the pressure switch at fault and turning the inlet valves off before the correct level of water has been reached. Also you can get a blockage in the pipe that feeds to the pressure switch from the drum, so take that off first and blow hard down it to clear any blockages you may have (usually a small diameter clear plastic tube). If that doesn’t do the trick then you should be able to pick up a pressure switch fairly cheaply.
Don’t forget to unplug the machine first though either before blowing into the tube or changing the pressure switch.

Hi thanks for your suggestions, i did think that it was trying to be eco friendly, but taking it a bit far ! I had tried reducing the powder but found that unless it was a ridiculous small amount i was still getting the problem.

It does seem to be taking in less water now than it used to and if washing a couple of towels seems to absorb all the water ! Ill give the pressure switch a go.... thanks again
