If you were putting it on horiz, and once you were happy that the lower sheets were good and the upper sheets were a good fit, why wouldn't it be a good idea to put a run of pva or gorrilla glue along the upper horiz. edge of the lower sheets before sitting the next row on them? To decrease the chance of cracked skim. Future proofing.

Thank you.

Can't see it doing any harm but neither can I see it achieving anything different than scrim taping your joins before skimming as you would still have to do using this method anyway.

Cracks appear when scrim tape hasn't been used, missed in places etc

Would I bother personally? No, seems a waste of time. Apply plenty of adhesive and scrim tape all your joins you'll be fine.

It's going on a stud wall.

I've used gripfill on all of the plaster board joints on all of my new ceilings (5 years ago) not one crack.

Then use plenty of screws and scrim tape all your joins you'll be fine.

Will doing your method do any harm alongside this? Not at all if you think it'll help prevent cracks go ahead.

Is it needed alongside a properly screwed and scrim taped wall? No.
