I have Vaillant Turbo max VUW 242 it is 5 years old. It has always been reliable. But today I turned on the heating and got nothing :( The light for the raditors didn't switch on and it doesn't fire up at all. it hit it a few times ( it works with the TV) but nothing. I have had a lot work done recently and wondered if it was dusty ... ok I'll stop as it is obvious I have no clue what I am on about..

Any suggestions...?? :?: :?: :?:

I have just ordered a manual so i can't even identify the object inside...

Please help I am freezing....

Is it workong for hot water....are there any signs of power to the boiler?

when you say you turn the heating on are you using the green selector switch on the boiler or are you switching a timer on (i'm assuming your boiler is a turbo max not a turbo max plus or pro) if you are using that switch then you may find the switch has snapped at the back, they are suseptible (sp?) to that on the turbo max.

yes when I switch the timer on by sliding it to on nothing happens..usually the boiler springs to life Inside the boiler the the green switch is always set to hot water and radiator. yes it is a turbomax vuw 242

when I turn on the hot water by tap...the ignition comes on, hot water emerges and all of the lights except the one next to the picture of the radiator...

thanks for your help

i would check the selector switch on the front of the boiler to make sure it isn't snapped and stuck in hw only, even though it appears to be set for hw and ch (unless you're 100% sure nobody has attempted to turn it and ended up snapping it) the are just clipped in and the whole knob will pull out if you get pliers on it and give it a little tug. If it isn't that then you possibly have a timer fault.
