Hi,

We have HALSTEAD BEST 50 gas boiler.
When we switch on the hot water, the boiler is not switching on.
But when we switch on cenral heating, the boiler is coming on and central heating working fine.

However, when we switch on the hot water while the central heating is on, the boiler is switching on as usual, but still the boiler is not heating up the water.

Does any one can offer any advice to fix the problem?

Many thanks in advance,

Sounds like you have 2 x 2 port valves. The DHW valve head sounds faulty.

If you have a 3 port valve check the cylinder stat.

The HW motor valve is apparently not opening. Usually thats as the result of the motor having failed !

It may be ossible to manually open the valve and latch it open.

Then if you operate the CH the hot water will heat as well.

If you have an immersion heater you could use that!

Hi Tony, Dave and Paul

Thank you so much for your generous help to fix my hot water problem.
Basically i do not know any thing about where to start to check the motorised valve.

But after Tony's suggestion i prepared to open the valve.
I realised that, even the boiler is off, the valve and actuator box is giving low level cracking noise inside 24 hours.

When i opened the box, the valve latch is in horizontal position and valve has two ports. The copper pipes (the two ports) are running in vertical direction.

Now i guess it is the locked position for the valve.

I will rotate the latch to vertical position and see, if it work to heat up hot water

Unfortunately we dont have immersion heater to use.

Again Many thanks indeed for your help and is very much appreciated
