hot water pressure from combi boiler

I've just had a new combi boiler fitted. When I turn on the hot water taps there's a burst of water which dwindles to nothing as the water heats up. This doesn't happen on the shower, but does to all the other taps. I don't turn the taps on fully as the water pressure is too high and it splashes out of the sink.
Can anyone advise?
