Hi there,

I am having this recurring problem with my hot water heating. I have an old gravity fed heating system and (I believe) and indirect hot water cylinder. Recently the hot water stopped gettin hot even though the central heating was still working fine. After trying the old hosepipe trick to blow any airlocks out of the hot water pipes I called in a plumber. 30 mins later and some fiddling with the grav tank in the loft and boiler in hte cellar and hte hot water is fine again. However the other day the hot water started to drop off temp wise and has now stopped getting hot altogether  . I have tried the hosepipe trick but this hasnt worked again. Any ideas/tips would be MUCH appreciated! For example I haveread that blocks in the feeder/expansion tanks can cause problems, I have looked in the loft and htese tanks are not dry but I don't know where to start with regards to ball cocks etc!!!

Sorry for the rambling length of this post!! ;)

Cheers

Jimmy

Not much more info I can think of really. The boiler is a GlowWorm and the problem only started recently. What I want ot konw is how to check the ball cocks in the header tanks as after that I think I have exhausted all my options!!!! Sorry for the lack of info

I had a similar problem recently and it turned out to be the motorised valve. It would channel hot water around the rads but not into the hot water tank as it was stuck in one position. Hope this helps

regards.

Thanks for that Flash...so whereabouts is the motorised valve? Excuse my ignorance!! ;)
