hot water setting gives central heating but no hot water!

Hello,

I wonder if someone can help me.

When I select the 'hot water only' setting from my programmer, the pump kicks in and the radiators become fully hot - however, I cannot get hot water out of my taps. If I select 'central heating and hot water' settings the same problem occurs. I've read a few of the messages on this forum - could it be a problem with the valve not sending the water through the coil in the cylinder?

Can anyone help?

Yes. Find the valve connected to the cylinder, feel the pipes, open it manually (usually a lever on the end), feel ...
Latch it open and your HW will heat when the rads are on.

Will that also let me get just hot water without the central heating? I can't get this at the moment - even though the programmer says I should be able to.
