hot water slow from bath tap only

hi guys
just wondering if anyone knows wether the 22mm flexible tap connectors deteriorate in time.
im asking because the hot water from the bath is running slower than all the other taps in the house. and my only suspect is the flexible tap connector.
i have a combi boiler.

If it used to be ok & now its not it could be the tap is not opening fully.
I had that on a basin tap. The washer/jumper had broke.

its only the hot water on the a mixer tap with shower connector thats slower than the rest of the other taps, hot and cold. i will probably change all the washers also. but need to know if its a good idea to change the flexible hose connector as its been there for nearly ten years.

Im not a plumber, but I have never had problems with flexible connectors.

You may have some crud stuck in the flexi pipe, worth taking off and checking, so whilst doing that replace with a new one, perhaps with isolating valve if not got one already.

thanks guys , im gonna strip the whole thing down when i get time and find the villain thats blocking the waterway . its down to less than half flow rate of all the other taps. cheers. cant afford to get someone in.

It could be any number of reasons, before you start to pull your bath panel off....

Have you checked your filters on the inlet to the boiler? They could be restricted and it may just be less noticeable on the other taps, as the feed to bath may still be 22mm.

Do you have a pressure reducing valve on the cold supply into the property, or on the cold feed to the boiler? Does it have a gauge on it? Has it been checked?

If the PRV is on the feed to the boiler, the hot water would be effected if it failed, or needed adjusting, and it would not effect the cold supplies elsewhere, as these would likely be tee'd off before it. (possibly)

If the feed to the bath is still an old 22mm feed, from when you had a cylinder previously, the pressure can vary, as can the flow. Less noticeable through 15mm pipe.

Pressure and flow are two different things. Fill a jug from each hot tap and time it to fill..... if the flow is same to all taps, thats likely to not improve, no matter what you do.

However, it may still be the flexy.....

thanks migem. i think the problem is near to the mixer tap because the hot water coming from the bathroom sink tap which is a single tap and a few feet away is coming out at nearly double flow rate of the hot bath mixer and shower.
saying all that.
today the flow rate has risen a lot from the bath mixer hot water.
now im more confused.

I reckon there's something preventing the tap jumper (the bit that holds the washer) from releasing from its seating. It could be the washer itself, or an 'o' ring where the jumper fits into the release thread.

Count the turns from closed to fully open, on both the hot and cold taps.
You can sometimes get a worn O ring on the tap riser, as the spindle turns and lifts it. If you get water in, where the greased threads are, that can stop the washer lifting off the seat, as the water which is then above the O ring can't compress or squeeze back out.
If you don't have iso valves on the hot tap, shut the cold fill off to the boiler. That way, you will still have cold water elsewhere while you go off to pick up what you need. O ring or conversion kit.

took the inards out and the whole thing washers and all looked rough.
went down the local plumb shop and bought a complete pair of replacements for both taps for a tenner. probably could have changed all the washers and stuff but thought to change the lot.
took a few minutes and all seems fine so far. also opens and shuts much more freely now .
