Hi,

Just doing some plumbing under the kitchen sink and I want to clear away some pipe clutter. We have a dishwasher and wachine machine that is being supplied by a cold supply only and there is also a hotwater tap/pipe supply which is not used. Can someone confirm if this obsolete for modern washing machinse /DWs?

thx Adam

AFAIK dishwashers have always been cold fill only. Modern washing machines are also cold fill only. They heat the water themselves to guarantee the energy rating.

Thanks. off with the H/W pipework then!
no harm in supplying a dishwasher with a hot feed instead. Think about it, the dishwasher heats the water with an immersion heater. Gas is usually 4 times cheaper than electricity....

just remember to swap the supplied inlet hose for a hot one if you want to do this

My 2 year old Candy wash machine uses cold on lower temps, but anything over 50 degrees and it draws water from its hot feed.

Keep the pipe, your next machine may need it!
