Advise please we have hot water tank for hot water and boiler for heating
We noticed that we can only have heating on at same time as hot water
It's all controlled by our hive app on phone or control on wall we did gave a so called plumber out who brought a complete zone valve but only changed the silver control box on the valve
Not the brass fitting is there a way we can check if it was this what was not working in the first place or shall we just leave as it is we did have thermostat changed on hot water tank last year so if this sounds dribble but this only way I could think of wording it

Sometimes it is just an actuator (silver head) that's required but the spindle should be checked at the same time. Is this only a fault since the hive was fitted or is it a brand new fault or even an existing fault that was present before the Hive?

Many tks for you reply We can't work out when the fault started
Hive was fitted by b gas
I just noticed when I set the heating to come on at 6am and hot water at 6 30 the radiators didn't start to get warm till 6 30

Try overriding the schedule to see if you can bring CH on at any other time of day, without the HW.

It may be that the cylinder is taking all the heat from the boiler and flow is not going to rads until HW is satisfied.

That's the first step to try, to actually prove that a CH demand is activating the boiler and heat to the pipes for rads.

If no heating for CH when demanded by hive then it's a wiring fault.

CH demand from Hive should cause actuator to move across and hit a microswitch which fires boiler and pump and at the same time, sends hot water around the CH circuit.

Check for 240v on brown wire at the motorised valve when CH called via Hive.

Many tks I set the heating via boost on hive no boiler kicked in but hive light came on I left it 10 mins then boosted the hot water via hive app boiler kicked in and heating started to come on also both lights was on hive reciver
A y help much appreciated

Call British Gas, to come back and sort the issue, because if it was working fine before, then they have wired it wrong.

British gas put hive in and boiler
Separate times this is the wiring what they did

Tks for your help we not sure if the problem was there after they wired the hive as we have allways put them to come on at the same time when we had a diffent control it was only when I tried to set them at different times I've enclosed a Photo of the wiring if you can see anything not right I'll definitely call them back as you can see the white wire goes to the hive I did turn off the switch when undoing the plastic plate and turned off when I put it back

So, how did you manage in summer? Did the heating come on in the heat of summer, whenever you needed to heat the water in the cylinder? Did you have to open the windows?

Post some more photos, include one of the valve/valves, with the silver acuators.

No the heating didn't come on because that was off so we had hot water in summer we didn't need heating my post did say we can't get heating if the water is on

So...
It all worked and then it didn't, so you called someone and they came and changed the actuator to the motorised valve?

Did they test it and show you it working?

Are there 2 "silver boxes" or 1?

You'll need someone back.
When it started faulting - dictates who!
