Hot water temperature

When having a shower my hot water starts off fine but then the temperature changes to a point where it's just above lukewarm. It never used to happen - in fact it was too hot sometimes. It's a mains connected system and we live on the third floor - is that a factor? The only thing I have touched is the domestic hot water temperature adjustment, which I've turned up.
Any suggestions?

The lads will need more info,is it a combi boiler or electric shower etc...

How long does it take to change? It sounds like a heat flow problem, which could be a result of scaling. We do need to know what type of shower it is though, and how it is supplied with water.
