Hello All,

We replaced all the internal doors at the beginning of the year. On hot days they expand and are difficult to shut properly. They're a perfect fit on cool days. Is there any way to solve this problem? I'm loathed to take any off the edges as they'll be too small for most of the year.

Cheers.

sand them slightly?

or candle wax?

(as some one said earlier)

breezer ducks behind sand bags

mmmmmm wood when wet expands
wood when dry shrinks

metal and plastic expand when hot but a lot less than wood can shrink

so your door should definatly be smaller in the hot weather

do you treat or clean the doors before they stick

where exactly does it stick and what is the construction off the door!!!

as in normall interior door or ledge and brace [ verticle t and g planks and diagonals]
my thinking here is the door may be dropping when it shrinks in the heat!!!

In hot weather the humidity also rises (especially in this country) therefore the doors could be absorbing the water from the atmosphere. It is worth checking that the door is sealed on the edges, including the top and bottom. (If not sealed, seal the edges when the door is NOT sticking!!)

One of my doors did the same as you describe, the problem was fixed by this solution.
