hotpoint aqaurius wml 540 pump continuous

A few days ago we had a drain blockage that caused the washing machine to overfill and leak out. After curing the blockage, the washing machine had the top right hand led (of the 6) flashing on start up. I cleaned out the front filter, and checked the drain pipe which is all OK. Now on any program when the machine is started, it opens the water inlet valve, but then starts the pump so any water going in comes back out the drain. I feel this is probably a control board problem , unless anyone has other ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Check the drain hose is up at least a metre. Otherwise it will syphon out.

I had the end of the drain hose over the sink which is higher than the machine, so it seems the pump must be running. thanks for the input
